We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join a high-performing finance team with a beautiful not-for-profit based in Melbourne CBD. Here, you will play a key role in supporting day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate transaction processing, reconciliations, compliance activities and month-end reporting.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Process employee expense claims and corporate credit card transactions.
  • Manage corporate card administration, including new card setup, amendments and cancellations.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Process revenue transactions, practitioner billing and other accounting activities.
  • Maintain supplier and customer records within finance systems.
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and post month-end journals, accruals and prepayments.
  • Support month-end reporting and audit requirements.
  • Respond to finance-related enquiries and provide support to internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to process improvements and maintain compliance with financial policies and procedures.

The Person

The ideal candidate will join bringing the following skills and prior experience:
  • Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant, Finance Officer or similar role.
  • Strong reconciliation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using accounting systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A collaborative approach and excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
