Urgent Requirement (can move quick)!

We’re looking for a hands-on and detail-oriented Assistant Tax Accountant to join a collaborative tax team on a circa 6-month contract. This role is well-suited to someone with early tax experience who enjoys working with data, reconciliations, and end-to-end compliance tasks in a supportive environment.

This is a great opportunity to build broad tax exposure across Australia and New Zealand, working closely with experienced tax professionals and contributing to the smooth running of group-wide tax compliance.

The role is based in the East Suburbs of Melbourne, for an international automotive business. It’s a great opportunity to see how a global brand operates, and for you to provide your own contributions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of GST lodgements for Australian and New Zealand operations

  • Assisting with preparation of supporting documentation for Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns for Australian operations

  • Preparation of New Zealand FBT returns on a quarterly basis

  • Assisting with income tax compliance requirements, including preparation of reconciliations for Australian and New Zealand entities

  • Working with offshore teams to support training and handover of FBT and income tax reconciliation processes

  • Providing ad hoc support to the tax team as required

About You:

  • Early experience in tax (in-house or professional services)

  • Comfortable working with data, reconciliations, and structured compliance processes

  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical and practical approach

  • Eager to learn and build exposure across indirect and corporate tax

  • Good communication skills and willingness to work with onshore and offshore teams

This role is ideal for someone looking to deepen their tax compliance experience in a structured but varied environment, with exposure across both Australian and New Zealand tax obligations.
