Business Analyst
Data & Technology Transformation  —  Six-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Location
Melbourne CBD / Inner East
Contract
6 months (extension possible)
Reporting to
COO & CFO
Salary
Competitive + superannuation

About the Company
Our client is a Melbourne-based clinical trial supply and patient-centric access solutions provider operating across the Asia-Pacific region and globally. As a strategic partner for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, CROs, CDMOs, research institutions, and hospitals, Akesa plays a critical role in supporting the discovery and development of new treatments, connecting patients to life-changing therapies.

With over 1,500 clinical trials supplied, a validated global supplier network, and a rigorous ISO 27001-aligned quality management system, Akesa is a fast-growing organisation at a pivotal stage of its development. The business is now investing in the systems and data infrastructure required to support its next phase of growth, and this role sits at the heart of that agenda.

The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to lead and support a portfolio of strategic data, technology, and transformation initiatives currently underway across the business. This is a unique opportunity to join an organisation at an inflection point, where the data and systems decisions made today will shape how Akesa operates for years to come.
The successful candidate will work closely with the COO and CFO and engage across the full organisation, combining structured analytical thinking with hands-on change management and stakeholder facilitation. This is not a purely technical role, our client is looking for someone who can translate complexity into clarity and bring the business with them through change.

Key Responsibilities
Short-Term Priorities (Months 1–3)
  • Data re-architecture: Lead the scoping, planning, and delivery of a restructured data environment including data governance frameworks, sensitivity labelling, and role-based access control (RBAC)
  • Reporting capability uplift: Support improvements to Akesa’s reporting infrastructure to deliver cleaner, more actionable business intelligence
  • AI enablement: Assist in the planning, governance, and rollout of artificial intelligence capabilities across the business, including:
  • Microsoft Copilot as the default LLM
  • Assessment and change management for integrated third-party AI tools
  • Evaluation of independent AI solutions as required

Medium-Term Priorities (Months 3–6)
  • CRM implementation: Lead discovery, requirements scoping, and implementation planning for a CRM solution, expected to be centred around Microsoft Dynamics
  • ERP scoping: Support the discovery and requirements definition for a multi-country ERP solution, including vendor assessment and evaluation activities
  • Transformation support: Contribute to related operational improvement initiatives as the business continues to scale

Ongoing / Cross-Cutting
  • Stakeholder engagement and facilitation across business units and with external vendors
  • Change management planning and communication to support technology adoption
  • Documentation of business requirements, process maps, and decision frameworks
  • Compliance-aware delivery within Akesa’s pharmaceutical and ISO 27001 quality environment

Candidate Profile
Must-Haves
  • 510 years’ experience in business analysis, technology transformation, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience with data-focused projects — including data flows, governance, and privacy frameworks
  • Strong understanding of RBAC and data security principles
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders across multiple levels and facilitate change
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate technical concepts for a non-technical audience
  • Hands-on working style with the ability to operate independently and with ambiguity
  • Experience working within compliance or regulated business environments

Highly Desirable
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft ecosystem, particularly Microsoft Dynamics (CRM/ERP)
  • Experience with AI or Copilot enablement and rollout
  • Exposure to pharmaceutical, life sciences, or similarly regulated industries
  • Established vendor network relevant to enterprise systems or data platforms
  • ISO 27001 awareness or experience working within certified quality management systems

Whats the company like?
Our client is a small, collaborative, and fast-moving team with a genuine sense of shared mission. The organisation operates with a high degree of autonomy and trust, and values people who are comfortable making decisions, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to build strong relationships across a close-knit team.
This is an mostly in-office role based in Melbourne. Candidates should be prepared to work on-site as the primary mode of engagement.
Our client is at a genuinely exciting moment in its journey, this role offers the opportunity to help shape the organisation’s data and technology function from the ground up, with direct visibility to senior leadership and tangible impact from day one.

Contract Details
Contract type:  Fixed-term (six months initially, with potential for extension to 9–12 months subject to project outcomes)
Remuneration:  Competitive salary + superannuation, commensurate with experience
Start date:  As soon as possible — immediate availability preferred
