Data Analyst
Permanent, Full Time | $90,000 - $100,000 | Hybrid (3 days in the office)

About the client
A client in the online education space that partners with universities to deliver high quality online learning experiences. They use data to improve the student experience, with a strong focus on student retention, progression and engagement.

About the role
This role goes well beyond report production. You will turn data into insights and practical recommendations that support better business and student outcomes. You will partner closely with stakeholders, use automation to improve analytics, and take on much of the hands-on data work that lets the wider business act on key findings.
You will also help build the analytics capability, including dashboards, data quality improvements, streamlined processes and solutions delivered within the client’s internal data platform. It is a good fit for someone who wants to grow their skills while doing business-focused work with visible impact.

Reports to: Lead Data Analyst, Analytics & Reporting

Key responsibilities
  • Apply statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive modelling and segmentation to identify trends, risks and opportunities, and turn the findings into clear recommendations
  • Support retention, progression and student experience initiatives through insights, recommendations or the implementation of statistical models
  • Design and run evaluations of initiatives and interventions to measure their impact and recommend improvements
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, define analytical requirements and communicate complex findings clearly
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, visualisations and analytical products that stakeholders trust and use
  • Promote data quality, governance and best practice, and find opportunities to automate and improve processes
  • Handle ad hoc analysis requests and data provision
What success looks like
  • Your insights and recommendations influence business decisions and improve student retention, progression and engagement
  • Reporting and analysis is trusted, timely and supports effective planning
  • Stakeholders actively use the analytics products you build
  • Recurring reporting is streamlined through automation and self-service
  • Data quality issues are identified and resolved, lifting confidence in reporting
  • You contribute to stronger analytics maturity and data literacy across the business
Skills and experience
  • Tertiary qualification in statistics, analytics, mathematics, computer science or a related discipline
  • Proven experience delivering analytics, insights and recommendations that inform business decisions
  • Advanced SQL, with experience on a cloud data warehouse
  • Python for analysis, automation and data preparation
  • Strong Power BI skills, including data modelling, visualisation and dashboard development
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, forecasting and data interpretation
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management, including explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Desirable
  • Experience in higher education, edtech or a similar service-based industry
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality and self-service BI
  • Exposure to other data visualisation tools
  • Familiarity with AWS services (such as S3 and Lambda)
  • Familiarity with Gen AI tools and their use in analytics workflows
