Infrastructure background, GCP, Sydney, Terraform

Are you passionate about crafting resilient, automated cloud infrastructures? Do you thrive in fast-paced, multi-venture environments? We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to architect and streamline infrastructure that powers multiple AI start-ups simultaneously. This is your opportunity to influence the future of AI-native applications, elevate developer velocity, and make a tangible impact across a dynamic portfolio of ventures.

In this role, you will own the platform design, automation, and backend systems that enable rapid deployment and scaling of innovative AI-driven businesses. Collaborating directly with technical co-founders, you will implement multi-tenant architectures, automate provisioning workflows, and ensure robust security and compliance standards, particularly within healthcare or sensitive data contexts. Your work will accelerate venture launch times, reduce operational friction, and set the foundation for long-term success.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Over 3 years’ experience in DevOps, SRE, or cloud-native backend engineering within dynamic or multi-product environments
  • Deep expertise with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi
  • Strong backend development skills in TypeScript/Node.js and Python
  • Proven experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Firebase ecosystem, serverless architectures, and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD workflows, automated testing, and release management
  • Familiarity with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, real-time event-driven systems (Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Firestore)
  • Understanding of security best practices, compliance (HIPAA, Australian Privacy Act), and multi-tenant architecture patterns
  • Experience with observability tools and incident management practices

Nice-to-Have:

  • Background working in venture studios or multi-product platforms
  • Experience managing AI/ML infrastructure or GPU workloads
  • Knowledge of AI orchestration frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph
  • Google Cloud certifications (Associate Cloud Engineer, Cloud DevOps Engineer, or Cloud Architect)

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Proven track record of developing scalable, automated infrastructure in high-growth environments

Other Requirements:

  • The role is based in Sydney with a remote-first approach; occasional travel may be required
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt swiftly to evolving priorities

This is more than just a job — it's an opportunity to shape the infrastructure that supports cutting-edge AI ventures. If you're ready to bring your expertise to a fast-moving, innovative environment and help accelerate multiple startups simultaneously, we want to hear from you. Apply today by sending your resume, portfolio/examples of your work, and a brief note on your experience with multi-tenant systems or rapid deployment automation.
