Junior Data Engineer
Permanent | Melbourne or Sydney | $90,000 to $110,000 plus super
A well established data analytics consultancy and Microsoft partner is looking for a Data Engineer to join its growing team in Melbourne or Sydney. This role suits someone with 2 to 5 years of experience who wants to build modern data platforms on Microsoft Azure and Fabric, while developing their career in a consulting environment.

About the Opportunity
Our client is a specialist data and analytics consultancy built around the Microsoft stack. They design and deliver Azure and Microsoft Fabric data platforms for clients across retail, financial services, manufacturing and more.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Building and maintaining data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse and Microsoft Fabric
  • Helping design and implement lakehouse and modern data warehouse solutions, including medallion architecture

  • Developing data transformations in SQL and Python or PySpark
  • Ensuring data quality, reliability and performance across client platforms
  • Supporting senior engineers and architects on delivery across multiple client engagements
  • Working closely with Power BI consultants to deliver data ready for reporting
  • Contributing to documentation, DevOps practices and client handover
What You Will Bring
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in data engineering or a closely related role
  • Hands-on experience with the Microsoft Azure data stack, such as Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake or Databricks
  • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, or a strong interest in getting deep into it
  • Strong SQL skills and working knowledge of Python or PySpark
  • Understanding of data warehousing and lakehouse concepts, including dimensional modelling
  • Familiarity with source control and CI/CD, such as Azure DevOps or GitHub, is a plus
  • Strong aptitude, curiosity and a genuine drive to learn
  • Good communication skills and comfort working with clients
  • Microsoft certifications such as DP-203, DP-600 or DP-700 are well regarded
What Is On Offer
  • $90,000 to $110,000 plus super, depending on experience
  • Permanent role based in Melbourne or Sydney
  • Variety of client engagements across retail, finance, manufacturing and other industries
  • Ongoing training, Microsoft certifications and mentoring from experienced engineers and architects
  • Clear career progression in a growing consultancy
  • A supportive, collaborative team culture
