Our client is a founder-lead, well-established manufacturing business seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to take ownership of the payroll function for approximately 200 employees across multiple entities.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, operational environment and is comfortable processing payroll in a largely manual setting.
With around 80% of the workforce employed on hourly rates, you'll be responsible for reconciling information from multiple clock-in systems, applying Award and Enterprise Agreement conditions, and ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time.
Reporting is a key component of this position, and you will work closely with site teams to collect, verify and investigate payroll information where required.
The Role
Key responsibilities may include (but not limited to) the following:

End-to-end processing of fortnightly payroll for approximately 200 employees

Manage two alternating weekly pay runs within the fortnightly cycle

Extract and reconcile timesheet data from three separate time and attendance systems

Manually review overtime, allowances, penalties and other payroll calculations

Ensure compliance with relevant Awards, Enterprise Agreements and payroll legislation

Process PAYG, Superannuation, STP and payroll tax obligations

Maintain employee records, leave entitlements and payroll updates
-
Prepare payroll reconciliations, reports and analysis for management

Respond to payroll queries and liaise with site-based teams regarding timesheet discrepancies
The Person
The ideal candidate will join bringing the following skills and prior experience:

Previous end-to-end payroll experience preferably within a Manufacturing, Construction or similar environment.

Experience processing payroll for hourly workforces in a manual or semi-manual environment

Exposure to MYOB Payroll would be highly regarded

Strong understanding of Award and Enterprise Agreement interpretation (Manufacturing and/or Construction Award knowledge highly desirable)

Experience working with time and attendance systems

Strong reporting and reconciliation skills

High attention to detail and ability to investigate payroll discrepancies

Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with operational stakeholders

Ability to work independently within a small Finance team
