About the Role

A well-established professional services firm is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join its growing Business Services team in Melbourne.

The team works with a diverse portfolio of clients, including SMEs, growing businesses, high-net-worth individuals, investment companies and trusts. The role offers a strong mix of compliance and advisory work, with exposure to a range of industries and the opportunity to work closely with experienced senior professionals.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced accountant looking to take the next step in their career, with the chance to manage your own portfolio of clients while continuing to develop your technical, advisory and leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting, regulatory and financial reporting standards.
  • Prepare income tax returns for a range of entities, including companies, trusts and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Assist with tax planning and provide technical advice across a range of business and regulatory matters.
  • Deliver business and tax advisory services, including business structuring, performance improvement and growth advisory.
  • Manage and maintain strong relationships with a portfolio of clients, providing a high level of service and regular direct client contact.
  • Work closely with Partners and Directors on more complex client matters and advisory projects.
  • Take ownership of your own client portfolio and manage work through to completion.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, assisting with their technical and professional development.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working within a professional services or public practice environment.
  • Strong technical accounting and taxation knowledge.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of clients and working directly with clients.
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior team members.
  • A genuine interest in taxation, advisory and broader business services.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • A proactive, collaborative and client-focused approach.
  • CA or CPA qualification.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
