A well-established and growing business advisory and accounting firm is looking to add a Senior Accountant to its Melbourne Business Services team.

The team works with a diverse range of businesses, high net worth individuals and family groups, providing exposure to a broad range of accounting, tax and advisory matters.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of a diverse client portfolio while working closely with Directors and senior members of the team.
You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing financial statements and tax returns, while also gaining exposure to more complex advisory and technical work. There are also opportunities to get involved in projects across other areas of the business, including specialist tax and corporate finance.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review complex income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.

Prepare and review financial statements.

Prepare and review Business Activity Statements.

Assist with strategic tax advice across areas including GST, CGT, FBT and Division 7A.

Build and maintain strong client relationships, including direct communication and attending client meetings.

Perform initial reviews of work completed by Graduates and Accountants.

Provide coaching, training and support to junior team members.

Liaise with the ATO, ASIC and other regulatory bodies.
About You
You will be an experienced Business Services Accountant who enjoys working with a varied client base and taking ownership of your work.
You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, communicating directly with clients and supporting more junior members of the team.
Ideally, you will have:

3–5+ years' experience in Business Services or public practice accounting.

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business or a related discipline.

Completed or be progressing towards CA or CPA.

Strong experience across a range of entity types, including companies, trusts and SMSFs.

Experience with accounting systems such as Xero and MYOB.

Strong Excel and general IT skills.

Excellent communication and client-facing skills.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Australian tax legislation.

The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.

A collaborative approach, with an interest in mentoring and supporting junior team members.
