Our client is seeking an experienced  Senior Payroll Officer  to join a high-performing payroll team and act as the 2IC to the Group Payroll Manager.

.

A key focus of this position will be providing leadership, guidance and hands-on support to the payroll team throughout an exciting payroll transformation project, including the ongoing transition from Preceda to Dayforce. As such,  strong Dayforce experience is essential.

 

Working within a complex payroll environment, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for approximately  11,000 employees  across  65+ entities, managing multiple Awards and Enterprise Agreements (EBAs).

 

The Role

 

Key responsibilities may include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Act as the trusted 2IC to the Group Payroll Manager, stepping in as required and supporting day-to-day payroll operations.

  • Provide guidance, mentoring and technical support to payroll team members.

  • Support the successful transition from Preceda to Dayforce, assisting with system adoption, process improvements and payroll best practices.

  • Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on time across a large, multi-entity environment.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Awards, EBAs, superannuation, payroll tax and other statutory obligations.

  • Investigate and resolve complex payroll queries and escalations.

  • Support payroll reconciliations, reporting and audit requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, efficiency and controls.

 

 

The Person

 

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in a senior payroll processing   or similar payroll leadership position.

  • Strong hands-on Dayforce experience (essential).

  • Experience processing payroll within a large, complex organisation.

  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements.

  • Experience managing payroll across multiple entities, Awards and Enterprise Agreements.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • A collaborative approach and a willingness to support and develop team members.
