The Opportunity

An established accounting and advisory firm is looking for an SMSF Accountant to join its team. This is an opportunity to take ownership of client work, build strong relationships and work closely with managers and partners across a range of SMSF accounting, taxation and compliance matters.

You'll be part of a collaborative environment that values professional development, teamwork and delivering quality outcomes for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare SMSF financial statements, annual accounts and tax returns for review.
  • Manage day-to-day client requirements and develop a strong understanding of their needs.
  • Review financial information and identify potential issues or areas requiring further attention.
  • Prepare activity statements, TBARs and other statutory documentation.
  • Liaise with external SMSF auditors and respond to audit queries.
  • Communicate with the ATO and assist with resolving client matters where required.
  • Build relationships with clients and attend client meetings alongside managers and partners.
  • Support junior team members and contribute to their ongoing development.
  • Assist with improving internal processes and systems while contributing to a positive team culture.

About You

You'll be an accounting professional with a solid technical foundation and an interest in developing your career within SMSF.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Completion of your CA or CPA qualification.
  • Experience in SMSF accounting, taxation and compliance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build lasting client relationships.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment.
  • Confidence using Excel and accounting software.

Experience with BGL Simple Fund 360 or Class would be advantageous, as would membership of the SMSF Association.
